The Kingdom of God is an upside-down kingdom that challenges our assumptions about power, success, blessing, and authority. Jesus declares that the poor, meek, mourning, merciful, and persecuted are blessed, completely redefining what it means to live under God’s rule. Jesus doesn’t simply teach this way of life - He embodies it by humbling Himself, becoming a servant, loving His enemies, and dying on the cross. What appeared to be defeat became victory, and what looked like death became new life. Like the mystery of a Tarte Tatin transformed beneath its covering and heat, God can be at work even when we cannot see what He is doing. The Kingdom reminds us that God is present in the heat, darkness, disappointment, and uncertainty of life, faithfully working toward something beautiful. We are invited to trust Him, embrace His upside-down way of living, and partner with Him in bringing His Kingdom into the world.
